We have proudly registered our facilities in our Kent and Medway service centres with Changing Places.
Changing Places is a charity whose aim is to help locate toilet facilities across the country to those who need extra support and access.
Annette Cairns, Director of Wheelchair Services for Millbrook Healthcare said: “Being able to offer our facilities to the general public is fantastic and I’m really pleased to be able to do this for the residents of Kent and those who are visiting the area.
“Being able to find adequate facilities shouldn’t be an issue and it’s thanks to Changing Places that we’re able to let everyone know that our facilities are open to those who need extra support.”
Nic Bungay, Director of Campaigns, Care and Information for Muscular Dystrophy UK, which co-chairs the Changing Places Consortium, said: “Muscular Dystrophy UK and the Changing Places Consortium are delighted that Millbrook Healthcare has registered facilities in Ashford and Gillingham. We hope that others, not only in Kent but across the UK, will follow its lead and commit to installing Changing Places toilets.
“The Changing Places Consortium campaigns for fully-accessible toilets for people with severe disabilities, who need extra equipment and space to use toilets safely and with dignity. Without access to Changing Places toilets, over a quarter of a million people who have severe disabilities are faced with a choice of not going out or being changed on a toilet floor, and these are not reasonable options. By building more Changing Places toilets, we can tackle the exclusion many disabled people face.”
You can find our facilities at our service centres in Inca House on Wotton Road in Ashford and in Ambley Green in Gillingham. Full contact details can be found here.
