Community equipment becomes even more accessible to local residents

Local residents had the honour of meeting Peter Hull MBE, when he opened a new Millbrook Healthcare community equipment shop in Southampton earlier today. Peter Hull MBE was joined by Paul Frampton from Southampton City Council and Phillip Campling from Millbrook Healthcare to open a new retail shop, which serves the local community, selling equipment to assist and aid independent living. The shop, which is a first for the community, is now open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm and offers free parking and free disabled parking. Patients can help shape future Diabetes services in Lincolnshire

Patients will have the chance to shape diabetes services across Lincolnshire at a meeting in Sleaford this month. Representatives from the NHS in Lincolnshire will be at the New Life Centre in the town on April 21 to speak with patients to better understand how to meet their needs. In Lincolnshire, 49,000 people are living with Diabetes, which is roughly 8 per cent of the population. In 12 months from March 2016, nearly 1,000 people in the county were diagnosed with either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, a two per cent rise on the previous year. National Parks Week 2017

National Parks Week It’s National Parks Week and we’ve been checking out the National Parks website for accessible activities in the UK’s most beautiful surroundings.  Whilst we don’t have the space to list them all here, we’ve selected a few of our favourites from around the UK. Brecon Beacons Brecon Mountain Railway.  A narrow gauge steam train will take you through the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park on a 1 hour 40 minute trip from Pant to Torpantau.  The train stops for 35 minutes at Pontsticill Reservoir, which has a level platform and views over the surrounding hills. Dementia Friends – Plymouth

We're really proud of our Plymouth community equipment and wheelchair services teams for becoming Dementia Friends. About Dementia Friends A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it's like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action - anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions (for our Plymouth service centre, this is Rebecca O'Donovan), who are trained and supported by the Alzheimer’s Society. Rebecca will carry out further information sessions with any new starters who join the team. Our colleagues at our Plymouth community equipment and wheelchair services have all attended a Dementia Friends session held by Rebecca. Wheelchair Service Feedback Event

Hampshire Wheelchair Service Feedback Event Millbrook Healthcare provides wheelchair services in Hampshire.  We have recently developed a Communication and Engagement Strategy and Implementation Plan, which sets out how we plan to communicate and engage with service users in the future.  We would love to receive your feedback on the draft. An event is being held to receive feedback on Monday, 10th October 2016 between 10.30am and 12.30pm at NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group.  It would be great to see you there to hear your feedback. East Sussex Wheelchair Service Celebration

To celebrate its first birthday, the East Sussex Wheelchair Service is opening its doors to all on Saturday, 9th July 2016, with a family fun day. The event starts at 12 noon. There'll be light refreshments, ball games and music by DJ 'JJ' until 4.00pm. Come and meet us informally in our fully accessible wheelchair centre at 8/9 Alder Close, Eastbourne, BN23 6QF.
