What service we provide
The service provides assessments for people with mobility and other postural problems, supplying wheelchairs, pressure care cushions and accessories for wheelchairs.
Assessments are held in a variety of locations e.g. clinic, at home, at a day centre or school.
How to refer into the service
Any qualified healthcare professional can refer to the service e.g. GP, district nurse, physiotherapist and occupational therapist.
All referrals will be looked at by one of our occupational therapists and prioritised according to the Somerset Wheelchair Service specification and criteria.
This may result in direct prescription and supply of equipment to the client.
Alternatively a face-to-face assessment may be required, which may be held at a variety of locations.
