This week is National Apprenticeship Week, so we wanted to celebrate our apprentices and share a couple of their stories with you.

Andy Spencer is a Senior Rehabilitation Engineer Technician at our Kent and Medway Wheelchair Service. He’s halfway through a BSc degree in Healthcare Science (Clinical Engineering), specialising in Rehabilitation Engineering at the University of the West of England.
Andy’s already completed modules on Scientific Basis of Engineering, Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to the Biology of Disease and Principles in Healthcare Science and is currently studying Scientific Practice, Professional Aspects of Healthcare Science, Advanced Clinical Engineering and Applied Clinical Engineering.
When he completes his apprenticeship, Andy will be a ‘fully-fledged’ Rehabilitation Engineer and will be placed on the Register of Clinical Technologists through the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine.
Andy said: “Starting this apprenticeship and studying has been a challenge for me at times, juggling the assessments alongside family life, however it’s definitely been worth doing and I look forward to being placed on the Register of Clinical Technologists.
“What I’m learning on my apprenticeship is hugely beneficial to me and enables me to make a difference to our service users lives.”

We’re proud of our apprentices, who are both clearly demonstrating many of our values, particularly ‘ready to learn and grow’.
We’ll be sharing the stories on our social media later this week. If you see our posts on twitter, facebook or Linkedin, please share them on your personal accounts and use the hashtags #NAW2021 #MillbrookHealthcare #BuildTheFuture.
